The Winning Attitude

So Ramadhan is here and I ask myself; “What Superstar du’as shall I make?!” As I wonder to myself I start to take myself back in the time of the Sahabaah raḥimahum Allāh (may Allāh have mercy upon them). I want to be like them, I want to achieve what they achieved (we can dream right?) – however, what can I do to make that happen.

So as my thoughts went awol, this is the Du’a I made…

O Al-Qadeer, please give me the Superstar attitude of Sahabaah so I can attain what they attained! Aameen!

Why you may ask? (Reminding you of something in the past…)

Your Perceptions, your Mindset, your Belief System.

Why is this important? Why do I think it’s the biggest asset? Their attitude is the very thing which made the Sahabah so outstanding.

It was their unshakeable belief in Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) ie. their belief system (which can be translated as emaan, and guidance); which was Islam, but that’s not IT, as we all have Islam, so what made them different? It was the mindset and attitude that went with it. Their positive mindset, that everything good or bad was from Allah, so they remained firm.

This nurtured their taqwa, their love and hope of Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He). A person may have a heart which is healthy and does indeed remember Allah, yet their perceptions of others may not be intact, and they may not have a super awesome attitude which pushes them in one direction, in adverse to another.

They had the perception of living their life, whilst they waited for death. By having unwavering belief in the truth of the hereafter. I personally believe this goes back to their attached perception of Allah, and His Might which gave them a mindset unlike no other!

“…Who give that (their charity) which they give (and do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms or charities have been accepted or not) because they were sure to meet their lord.” [1. Surah AlMu’minoon; 23:60]

I end on something which personally made me go – I really need to step up and kickstarted this thought wave,

“If we had the attitude of the Sahabah, we’d be exactly like them!”

Now do you understand why I made the du’a?

ACTION POINT: Make this du’a too!
