O ‘Afuww – a poem

Putting my heads down on my knees
Forgive me Allah, I said, will you please?
I know I have sinned,
I complained and I grinned.
I know all the obligations I transgressed
All the hearts out there I oppressed.
I was heedless that You saw me,
I forgot You are Al-‘Aleem.
I have oppressed my nafs,
By staying away from You
Will you now forgive me, Ya ‘Afuww?
The best ten nights are here
I know Your Mercy is near.
So forgive me, these nights Ya ‘Afuww
Who is there to embrace me, if not You?
