Everything changed…

Many people have their turning points, a time when they want to improve, they wish to excel and hope to become the best. We hope this happened to sister Kiran inshaAllah!

Sister Kiran shares her experience of Characteristics of the Righteous in Middlesbrough.

Is He subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) that forgiving? If a girl made that mistake in our society, would we overlook her like the Messenger of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) did?

I was touched, it gave me the goose bumps and I experienced the little tingling feeling you get when your amazed by something! It all happened during the seminar, Characteristics of the Righteous. It was a moment in the seminar when Sister Alima narrated the story of Al-Ghamidiyyah, the woman who committed adultery. However, for the first time I came across another perspective, this woman made a mistake, and then she got scared and terror filled inside of her. As terror entered inside her heart, this was the moment her life changed and the pain of displeasing Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) caused her to become so great. This woman was in so much pain, because she loved Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) so much.

The point of reflection was; she could no longer bear the pain so she turned to the Messenger of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) but the thing that touched me the most was how amazing was Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) forgiveness. SubhanAllah our Rabb is so Merciful and Forgiving, when society can’t bear to mix with us due to our mistakes, He still embraces us as long as we turn back to Him.

For me it changed everything, and Al-Ghamidiyyah is someone I will truly cherish and it’ll be a reminder for me to never lose hope in forgiveness and love of Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He).

As time went by the day came to an end, and words can’t describe how I felt whilst leaving this seminar, I felt empowered, alhamdulillah in addition I felt I could achieve everything and anything I put my mind too! I’ve always known women for being followers of other women, to copy what the others are doing. This may be an aunty or a mother etc.

However, everything has changed, until recently seeking knowledge oblivious to me and only last year did I realise women have an important role to play in the home, and with this comes the duty to seek ilm (knowledge) to implement it in their own lives, as well as others around them.

This seminar was a eye opener for me, as it made me think and reflect on who I was as a person and what I have gained. In fact, it gave me the motivation to really delve into what I could achieve in my life! I truly found out my true potential thanks to sister Alima mashAllah. For me she’s such a inspiration to all us women out there as she’s achieved so much, all thanks to Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He). As the seminar progressed and analysed sister Alima I truly found discovered what us Muslimah’s could achieve if we pushed ourselves to know what were really worth, and appreciate our true potential!

I’m grateful to Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) for blessing me to attend such a gathering, in which I experienced so much love and humbleness, and it has made me appreciate good company and hands down sisterly love is amazing!

As the day started, I was extremely happy when I was given a handbag size friendly booklet, a beautiful workbook which fits nicely in my bag, allowing me to read it whenever I need an eman boost.

As I reached home, I decided to flick through the booklet and something caught my eye, it was a page which had a profound statement; ‘’All you need is a women to believe in herself and when she does, she will do wonders! However, women are difficult to convince, but when you do they will do something even they can’t imagine!’’ This was something I pondered over for a while and subhanAllah the more I repeated it to myself, the more i was amazed at this statement… For me everything changed at this moment, surely life will never be the same again.

This seminar helped me, as it was such an imaan booster! And lastly I’d like to end by saying a big thank you to sister Alima for her blessed company, as it was amazing to learn and interacting with ‘Alima instead of an ‘Alim!!
