Daily Adkhaar – The Productivity Pill

That day was very different for me. Usually, when I wake up for Fajr after a tiring day, I tend to creep into my bed as soon as the salah is done. But that day, I fought against myself to take the ‘Fortress of the Muslim’ in my hand and do the morning adhkaar. I crept back hurriedly to my bed for some sound sleep as usual. But, things did not go as usual for some reason. I just could not sleep!

I could not sleep out of excitement. I could not sleep out of energy to do something productive. I could not afford to miss out the most productive hours of the day. I simply could not feel at rest without doing something productive! And why was that? It was because of the morning adhkaar I read, and I made sure I read with the meaning, Alhamdulillaah!

If someone really contemplates over the meanings of the Morning and Evening remembrance, he/she will really be inspired for a productive day ahead. So beautifully are the words laid down by our beloved Messenger ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) in these du’as.

And so today, I will be sharing one du’a from the many du’as of the morning that works as an amazing productivity pill for me, Alhamdulillah.

The du’a is as follows:

‘We have reached the morning and at this very time all sovereignty belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day, its triumphs and its victories, its light and its blessings and its guidance and I take refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil that follows it.’

SubhanAllah, the feeling that I have every morning when I read this du’a is simply awesome.

‘We have reached the morning and at this very time all sovereignty belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds – When I wake up like an early bird and tell my Lord that I have reached the morning, it gives a soothing sense of peace to my heart. It is like having my own conversation with my Rabb.

O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day, its triumphs and its victories, its light and its blessings and its guidance – And then when I ask my Rabb to bless me with the goodness of the day, the victory of the day, the light, the blessings and the guidance, how can I then sleep on my bed not striving to achieve these? When I have asked Allah for these, I have certainty He will surely guide me to these. So, how can anyone expect me to lie on my bed and not seek to enjoy these blessings of Allah that I have asked from Him?

Nothing acts as a greater empowerment for me than being able to remember my Lord in the way of His prophet and in his words. The words are precise and perfect. If one contemplates over these du’as every morning and evening, he will surely be able to live the day in a productive manner with the spiritual boost.

It is like I just witnessed a miracle. Ditto what I am feeling nowadays. Only I read these duas not right after Fajar, I read them with the meaning on the way to my office . And really I have started getting that longing of being productive all day long. It’s like my inner self wants me to not waste a bit of my time in useless stuff. ALHUMDULILLAH. And now HE (SWT) brought me to read this and realize the feeling. I hope this is making some sense. But I am flabbergasted. :) JazakILLAHU Khairan Katheera, Sister Faria
